Sierra Magazine – Look Ma, No Car!

Kyle Boelte writes an interesting article about the rise of bicycle commuting in America. Apart from citing the usual benefits to commuting by bicycle over other means of transport the piece considers new ways that states across the U.S.A are trying to build an infrastructure for cyclists  “in Washington, D.C… Bikestation provides 130 parking spaces and changing rooms for cyclists at Union Station in a modern glass-and-steel structure with secure, automated access–all for an annual membership fee of $20.”  Cambridge already has a fantastic secure parking facility that I have found very useful on occasions. This is something I would like to see more of in the UK.
