Bike Portraits is an exciting project directed by UEL Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Kat Jungnickel, initiated as part of a sociology project exploring cycling cultures in the UK.
Kat creates her portraits by repiecing together up to 40 images of her subject collage style to create the finished product, an edgy panoramic view, showing her subject (and her feet!) from where she is standing. The picture below was taken by Kat of me last Autumn in London Fields. Soulful and personal, each portrait is a unique personal account of her subject capturing the free spirit at the heart of every cyclist.
The exhibition includes 25 pieces of artwork and is on show in five different bicycle-y venues in Hackney including Look Mum No Hands and London Fields Cycles until the 17th of August.
