Cycle Show Round Up

A huge thank you to all of you who came to visit us at the Cycle Show this year. I finished the four days feeling fantastically overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and it was great to meet so many new faces as well as get the chance to catch up with those of you who visited us last year or indeed put faces to people I have only spoken to via e mail.

Thanks also to Andrea Vladova for taking the time to photograph our stand (images below). For those of you who couldn’t make it to the Cycle Show or who were unable to purchase on the day, our new collection will be up online after this weekend. Please sign up to our newsletter for the latest news and offers by e mailing ‘Subscribe’ to . I also have some exciting new retailers to announce later this week… Amy x

The Zandra Rhodes Bicycle Project

Zandra Rhodes Interview in the London Cyclist, Oct-Nov 2009

If you follow the Cyclodelic blog you’ll know that we were paid a visit by fashion royalty, Zandra Rhodes at the Cycle Show last year. What I didn’t mention was why.

Over the past couple of months we have been working with Zandra, thanks to the London Cycling Campaign, to re design her dusty Raleigh Shopper and make it as fabulous as her. It all started when Koy interviewed Zandra for the London Cyclist Magazine (see picture of article). Last week we retrieved the iconic little bicycle from Zandra’s garage and yesterday it began its journey to an extreme make – over. First stop Velorution.

Over the next few weeks Zandra’s cycle will be stripped, scrubbed, sprayed, decorated at her London studio, be given new parts, a touch of bling and then returned to Zandra phew!

The whole process is being filmed and we will keep you updated with our weekly progress. At Cyclodelic we are feeling the pressure of designing Zandra some new panniers and a custom saddle to match the bicycle. More to come…

Melissa Henry to speak at Cycle Show

Melissa Henry, communications Director of Sustrans, will also be joining us to speak at the Cycle Show on October 11th.

“Melissa has had a varied career, firstly within publishing and more latterly in the voluntary sector, working in the area of communications.  Like many she is an eco worrier, and like many would like to know far more about what she individually (and collectively) can do to bring about the change necessary to deal with the big issue of our century – climate change.  Having already accumulated a sizeable life-time carbon footprint, particularly from travel, Melissa is keen to highlight the very practical ways Sustrans advocates for reducing the environmental impact of our travel habits without reducing our pleasure.
Melissa was born in 1964.”

Sustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects so that people can choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment.

Josie Dew book signing at the Cycle Show

Josie Dew has cycled some 350,000 miles across six continents and 47 countries (some of them by accident). The survivor of several wonky knees and a handful of worn-out bottom brackets, she is still firmly fixed in the saddle. She has written seven books about her travels. More recently she has towed her two-year-old daughter over 10,000 miles in a bike trailer around England.

She will be speaking and answering you questions alongside a panel of experts in the arena on Sunday the 11th October as part of Cyclodelic’s Girls Guide to Cycling at The Cycle Show this year.

We are also extremely privileged to have Josie selling signed copies of her books from our stand at D11 between 1:30 and 2:30 PM on Sunday 11th October. This is a rare chance to get to meet one of today’s most experienced cycle tourers, test her knowledge on her travels and adventures and buy a personalised copy of one of her inspirational books. Not to be missed!
